Like a carpenter or a gardener uses many different tools; an OD Consultant too uses different tools to go about the task. Unlike the carpenter or gardener; in our work we discuss use of these tools with our clients and arrive at a consensus on what will work best.
Use of Psychological instruments
We use appropriate psychological instruments in many of our interventions to generate objective data for the participants about themselves. The scores indicate to the participants their strengths and their areas of development. Since these instruments are self-scored, participants are more open to looking at the data that emerges from these scores. The areas of change become clear to the participants when the scores from these instruments are further substantiated / validated by interpersonal or group feedback to the concerned individuals. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-report questionnaire designed to help you identify your strengths and unique gifts. MBTI results describe valuable differences between normal, healthy people - differences that can be the source of much misunderstanding and miscommunication. Understanding MBTI type is self-affirming and enhances cooperation and productivity. |

Your Temperament
Your Temperament is an instrument created by Pradip N. Khandwalla; and is intended to give people some idea bout the common blocks to divergent and creative functioning. These blocks may be operating within you and could be preventing your creative personality - with its elements of spontaneity, playfulness, curiosity, etc. from emerging. Over a period of time, this could lead to a drying up of creative initiatives and society could transform itself into a timid, conservative and conformist entity. In order to reverse this process, the blocks to creativity as indicated by the instrument My Temperament, need to be eliminated and creative processes encouraged. It has served as a critical way of understanding self and others in many of our transformational processes. |

T- Group
National Training Laboratories, USA pioneered the use of T-groups (Laboratory Training) in which the learners use the 'here and now' experience in the group, feedback among participants and theory on human behaviour to explore group processes and gain insights about themselves and others. The goal is to offer people options for their behaviour in groups and teams. The T-group is a journey into the unknown and offers deep insights into individual personalities and group behaviour, and unexpected breakthroughs for individuals and the group as a whole, because there is ample space to experiment with new behaviour and test the consequences in the lab. In addition, it is a powerful methodology to develop team-building competencies in individuals, and also to help them get comfortable to exercise leadership in uncertain and ambiguous situations. Open Space Technology
Open Space Technology is one way to enable all kinds of people, in any kind of organization, to create inspired meetings and events. Over the last 15 years, it has also become clear that opening space for dialogue, as an intentional leadership practice, can create inspired organizations, where ordinary people work together to create extraordinary results with regularity.
In Open Space meetings, events and organizations, participants create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme of strategic importance. Members take collective responsibility of whatever happens and therefore, there is little to complain about at the end of the day. Groups and institutions that have learnt how to make use of this methodology have benefited greatly. Our own work with clients using this method has validated this method for large group work. |

"Future Search" conference
"A future search," according to writer Marvin Weisbord and co-developer Sandra Janoff, "is a large group planning meeting that brings a 'whole system' into the room to work on a task-focused agenda. In a Future Search conference, people have the chance to take ownership of their past, present, and future, confirms their mutual values, and commit to action plans grounded in reality."
Future Search is a Planning meeting that helps people transform their capability for action very quickly. Through the process of dialogue, the group discovers their common ground which then leads to concrete action plans.
The meeting design comes from theories and principles tested in many cultures for the past 50 years. It relies on mutual learning among stakeholders as a catalyst for voluntary action and follow-up. |
