| Process Consulting |
Process consulting is a powerful tool which is used to enhance group effectiveness, and it is based on our experience of doing work with groups in helping them examine their own behaviour patterns. The process consultant focuses not on the content of the meeting, but on the human processes that happen during the meeting such as:
- A few people or one person in the group dominating the discussion for the most part, rendering others silent
- How well are ideas and plans dialogued in the group – are objections to the plans voiced? Are they considered before the final decision is taken?
- Are decisions made through consensus or by other means such as authority, majority etc.
The benefits of process consulting are usually:
- Shorter and more productive meetings, leading to satisfaction about the time spent
- More considered and informed decisions, as all viewpoints are adequately voiced and heard
- Increased sense of participation and involvement in the group, therefore greater ownership for implementing decisions taken
- In the long term, a clear understanding of what makes teams work more effectively
