Manegerial Effectiveness
Managerial Effectiveness
Managerial effectiveness is very important for the survival and growth of an organisation. Decisions about effectiveness are bound to be situational and contingent upon the definition and perspectives of those making the judgment. The manager's job is linked with three major dimensions - technical, conceptual, and human. The productivity of any organisation can be increased by the effective management of all these three dimensions. While there are enough opportunities provided to managers to hone their technical and conceptual skills, where many managers need more support is in the area of dealing with their teams – their human resources. Particularly in an age where managers are assuming this role with just a couple of years of organisational experience, they need support in the following areas:
- Dealing with the diversity in their teams
- Developing skills of managing the performance of others – performance coaching, counselling and giving interpersonal feedback
- Developing skills of managing relationships with their people – trust, delegation and nurturance.
Our intervention focuses on helping the new and young managers develop these skills of managing task and relationship with their people, so that they avoid Peter Drucker's prophecy: "People join reputed organisations, and leave bad bosses"
