Becoming an Empowering manager
|
| For managing the increasing complexity of work today and at the same time meeting the needs of the customer speedily and effectively, managers need to learn to empower their team-members to take decisions and be proactive. While this is seen as critical and even managers agree to this need for empowerment, what comes in the way of genuine empowerment are the manager's own fears / assumptions and resistances, besides the lack of skill either the manager or the team-members may have in behaving empowered. Our intervention therefore focusses on the attitudes and resistances of managers, as well as the necessary skills of delegation, facilitation and coaching that a manager needs to develop, if they have to truly empower their teams. |
